Position Statements

1. We Need a Balanced Economy.

A challenge is for the middle class to find the strength to attempt start ups and co-operatives to replace what used to be provided by big business. Not a top-down model of stimulus, rather a working outward from each individual in co-operatives. Working outward to solutions coming from active participation by Citizens. Citizens must disconnect from passively receiving information and evaluate their own conditions and take active steps towards improvements.

2. Politically Correct Equals Censorship.

Political Correctness prevents participants from freely expressing their ideas and therefore the resulting dialogue cannot be genuine. It is a bullying tactic that uses our “comfort zones” against us in order to maintain either the status quo or to thwart the discussion necessary to affect change.

3. A Renewed Approach to Health Care

All Nevadans will have access to affordable, quality and comprehensive health care. “Nevada shall have a public option for all Nevada residents. Nevada can pioneer a single-payer health care system or a greatly simplified system in which patients get the services they need, doctors and other health care providers get adequately paid, with a minimum of public or private bureaucracy intervening in the process. Community Health Care Centers such as those put into the U.S. Senate bill are very much needed, especially in both the inner cities and rural areas of the US. Dental, vision and mental health care should be part of the services provided by those centers.” -D. Murphy, D. Rilea

4. With the Attorney General and Professors of English, and Political Theory we should line through some portions of the Nevada Revised Statutes. I will then issue an Executive Order that the lined through items be stricken. The language stricken will focus on protectionist items that have been inserted into Nevada law by formerly valid interests. I will then submit the corrected NRS to the State Supreme Court for an opinion/ruling.

5. Declare a state of emergency in our Public School Systems.

Some standardized testing will become void. Nevada will refuse to follow portions of the No Child Left Behind Federal Act. Gaming interests should establish more non-profit schools for the children of gaming workers. Families will still have the Public School option, but it will be a system with far fewer issues that have been caused by over-crowding and under-funding. Insure Public Schools keep class ratios of teacher to student to 1:20 maximum, except in specific subject areas as will be noted, assembly courses such as Band, and Sports for example. Home schooling needs to become a viable option coupled with work/live parent occupations. Viable meaning do-able. It works for families that work where they live and have adequate resources, and support to do it.

6. We must eliminate obstacles to the creation of small businesses and occupations.

Occupations are self generating and do not necessarily rely on employers or employees. Occupations do require market support. Either in the form of micro-loans to sole proprietors or a clear and obvious demand for their local product.
